What Is the INTERISLAND WIND and cable project?
The Interisland Wind project proposes to send up to 400 megawatts of renewable wind energy from Moloka'i and Lana'i via undersea cable to O'ahu. The project would play an important part in helping to achieve the Hawai'i Clean Energy Initiative goal of 70% clean energy for electricity and ground transportation by 2030. The State of Hawai'i, First Wind Hawai'i, Castle & Cooke and Hawaiian Electric Company are committed to working collaboratively with the public on the project

Interisland Wind will impact some communities on O'ahu, but most significantly the islands of Moloka'i and Lana'i. Potential impacts on our ocean and marine environment must be fully understood. All concerns must be fully explored and discussed among the island communities in an open, honest way that is respectful of all involved and that recognizes the inequities of resources that exist between islands.
